Parameters for material are:

• An element of Jewish resonance – does not need to be the prominent theme or subject.
• It should feature women or a woman’s point of view, but not exclusively. Male characters are welcome.
• It can be of any length. Even very short pieces are of interest.
• Previously produced or published work is welcome. Please include production and/or publication history. A new version of a classic or an adaptation from another medium would definitely be of interest.

Although the primary focus of the JWT is on the writing, we are also interested in music at our events. Plays with music are of great interest. Composers, song-writers, and performers are also encouraged to submit individual work.

The Writer’s Unit

This is a writer’s lab to develop and support new material to be produced by the JWT. Writers will meet on a regular basis in Los Angeles. The Writer’s Unit is open to writers from all disciplines, who have an interest in creating a new theatrical piece.
